The CAP 2026 selection process is based on CAT cutoff percentiles, work experience, and academic performance. For the Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT), the cutoff percentiles were maintained at 95 for General category candidates, 66 for SC, and 42 for ST/PwD. Only three IIMs are taking part in this year's CAP round to shortlist deserving candidates. Before the interviews, the CAP 2026 slot booking window was kept open until February 3, 2025. If you had completed your CAP 2026 registration you could choose your preferred interview slots online via the official portal, cap2026.iimj.ac.in.

About IIM CAP 2026

The IIMs introduced the Common Admission Process (CAP) for selecting candidates for admission to their MBA programs. The CAP is a single-window selection process that streamlines the admission process for the 3 participating IIMs, namely IIM Bodhgaya, IIM Jammu, and IIM Sirmaur.

IIM CAP Eligibility Criteria 2026

If you are going to apply for IIM CAP 2026, it is important to know the eligibility criteria. General category candidates need a minimum of 50% marks in their undergraduate studies. But if you are from the SC, ST, or DA category, you must have a minimum of 45% marks in your graduation. These academic qualifications are a must to be eligible for admission to IIM CAP colleges.

Here are the steps you need to follow to fill out the application form for CAP for IIMs in 2026

Visit the CAP conducting IIM website.
Next, click on the “CAP 2026 IIM” link available on the homepage.
Go to the candidate login and enter 'Click here’.
Enter your CAT registration ID, password, and captcha code.
After a successful login, fill out the registration form by entering the required details.
Upload all the required documents in a prescribed format.
Finally, submit the filled-in CAP application form 2026.

Documents Required to Fill IIM CAP 2026 Application Form

Here are the documents you must keep ready before filling up the IIM CAP registration form 2026:

Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheet with a pass certificate
Graduation certificates
Soft copy of the Photograph and Signature (Less than 100 KB).
Photo Identity Card
Experience certificates (Please do not consider training and apprenticeship as experience)
Issue valid caste certificates (NC-OBC/ SC/ ST) as per the format given on the CAT website. (For NC-OBC, it is valid for the next six months from the date of registration)
In the case of DAP / PwD, issue the certificate following the format given on the CAT website.
In the case of EWS, issue the certificate following the format given on the CAT website. The certificate is valid for the year 2025-26 (based on income for the financial year 2025-26).

You can check your IIM CAP shortlist status through the official CAP website. Follow the steps to know your selection status after registering on the IIM-CAP portal:

Visit the IIM CAP login portal.
Enter IIM CAP user ID and password.
Search and click on IIM CAP status.
Check CAP call and IIM shortlist status.

IIM CAP 2026 Selection Process

It is important to have a good knowledge of the selection criteria of CAP 2026 if you plan on participating in the IIM CAP. The first stages of the selection criteria for IIMs are common for all the institutes, but the decision for giving final admission to a candidate and the final stages of the process depend on individual institutes. Step 2	Preparation of CAP Shortlist	Participating IIMs prepare a list of shortlisted candidates and forward it to the IIM conducting the CAP process for that year. For CAP 2026, the process is conducted by IIM Bodh Gaya.
Step 3	CAP 2026 Call Invitation	After the final shortlist is prepared, selected candidates receive a CAP call. These candidates are invited to participate in the next stage of the admission process through CAP 2026.
Step 4	Personal Interview (PI)	Shortlisted candidates must appear for the Personal Interview round. The CAP 2026 PI is conducted online, allowing candidates to participate without travelling to multiple cities.
Step 5	PI Score Evaluation & Submission	Candidates are evaluated based on their PI performance. The CAP conducting institute calculates the PI scores and shares them with the respective IIMs for the candidate.
Step 6	Final Selection by IIMs	Each participating IIM calculates the final admission score using its own selection policy. The evaluation includes PI performance, past academic records, and work experience, along with other criteria for admission to PGP / MBA / PGDM programs.

Those who have cleared the criteria specified in the admission policy of various IIMs can then complete the admission process and enroll for admission to their choice of management course. At the time of admission, they will be required to pay the requisite admission fee as well as submit several supporting documents for verification purposes.

Shortlisting Cutoff of Individual IIMs

You are shortlisted for participating in the admission process of IIMs based on your scores in the CAT exam . To be eligible for admission, you are required to have a score equal to or greater than the CAT cutoff announced by various IIMs. You can refer to the table given below for the CAT expected cutoff for shortlisting applicants for admission. The number of candidates shortlisted by IIMs for the WAT-PI process is usually around 10 times the number of seats available.
