The Indian Institute of Technology - IIT Guwahati has signed a Terms of Reference (ToR) with the Royal University of Bhutan Affiliated Sherubtse College. A delegation of 6 members of Sherubtse College led by Mr Tshering Wangdi, visited IIT Guwahati on 28th and 29th October 2019.
The ToR signed will not only increase the exchange of training and research knowledge among the institutions but will also promote international academic collaboration between the two institutes.
It has been decided that the IIT Guwahati will open a centre in Bhutan. The centre will encourage Bhutanese students to take the JEE Advanced Examination and will also provide coaching for the same.
The Director of IIT Guwahati, Prof T G Sitharam informed that IIT Guwahati is looking forward to opening a JEE Centre in Bhutan which will prepare the Bhutanese students for JEE Mains and secure seat in one of the IITs. Apart from that, it will also encourage Bhutanese science researchers to join IIT Research Projects as full-time researchers.
The Delegation of Shetubtse College also met a few delegates in IIT Guwahati including the chairman of Joint Entrance Examination Cell for discussing the possibilities of setting up a JEE Centre at Bhutan.
The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Centre for Environment, Centre for Energy and Cente for Education technology were visited by the team of delegation. The centre heads attended them and introduced to the IIT GHY centres and laboratories for each centre or department.
Highly impressed by the institute, the college expressed their will to send the Sherubtse College faculty in IIT Guwahati for higher educational training.
