Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur region (IIT KGP) will be organising an induction programme for first-year students. The induction programme will include several programmes, social activities and interactions and sports challenges which help in the smooth transition of students from the home environment to campus life.
The main aim of the IIT KGP induction programme is to inform the first year students about the environment of the institute and to make them aware of academic and social issues. It will also help the students get familiar with the IIT KGP campus and campus life.

During the induction programme, students will start their day at 6.00 AM with a yoga session followed by interactive sessions and programs to explore their talent and creative sight. It will also help them to understand their classmates and release stress and anxiety.
The first year students will also get an opportunity to interact with faculty members, directors and senior students which will help them understand the IIT KGP community life and the vision of the institute.

Professor Somesh Kumar, Dean, Students’ Affairs, IIT KGP said that even though the students come with a lot of preparation it is very important for the institute to ensure their smooth transition from the home environment to the IIT KGP life. The institute will also help students recognise their skills and generate interest in the research.
