Jio Institute, which is yet to be formed was also given the prestigious status by the ministry. IIT Delhi plans to invest Rs. 1000 crores over a period of 5 years that will be granted to them by the HRD Ministry as part of the Institutions of Eminence grant. Of course, IIT-D will facilitate this amount with internal revenue generations through R&D grants and other mechanisms.
IIT-Delhi plans to raise another Rs. 1500 crores or so in the next 5 years, so the cumulative amount spent on this project will be Rs. 2500 crores approximately. This amount will be used in building infrastructure, enhancing research facilities and outreach.
There is a technology park already in place in the IIT Delhi Sonepat campus and the IIT-Delhi campus will also see one coming up in the immediate future.
