On January 4, 2020, IIT Madras initiated an institute lecture series by Prof, Subra Suresh at Bangalore. The lecture series has been established in terms of honouring the most eminent alumni, Prof. Subra Suresh who is currently appointed as a professor and president at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

The institute lecture series has been introduced with the donation as received from another senior alumnus of IIT Madras including Mr Senapathy 'Kris' Gopalakrishnan, who is also the co-founder of Infosys and the Chairman of Axilor Ventures, Bengaluru. In the context of the lecture series introduction, Prof. Bhaskar Ramamurthi stated that the new institute lecture series will be focused on two of the most prominent pillars of academic institutions: academics and creativity.
The research conducted by Prof. Subra Suresh has been primarily in the field of biological and engineered materials and their implications for human diseases. He is also known to author over 300 research articles along with 30 patent application and a technological setup.

The institute lecture series introduced by IIT Madras will also comprise of a forum for institutes, intended to connect worldwide leaders with the students, and alumni of IIT Madras in order to have a discussion over various scientific and industrial prominent topics.
Talking about the lecture series introduced in his honour, Prof. Subra Suresh stated that he is honoured that his alma mater has introduced a lecture series in his name. He further thanked Mr Kris Gopalakrishnan for the donation and generosity he showed for establishing the lecture series.
