The Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) and Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) are the winners of the Zone 4 (West) CFA Institute Research Challenge, India. The winners were announced by CFA Society India on December 22, 2016.

A total of six teams were competing for the Zone 4 contest. Apart from NMIMS and JBIMS, NITIE, SPJIMR – IIT Bombay and SIBM Pune participated in the event.
The teams from each institute were supposed to pitch their equity research on a public traded company – PVR Limited within the limited time provided to them. The teams were analyzed by a panel of senior industry experts. The panel included Chief Investment Officer – Equity, CFA, Harsha Upadhyaya who is also Kotak Mahindra AMC’s Senior Executive Vice President; Jayesh Shroff ex-Fund Manager, SBIMF and Independent Management Consultant, CFA, Naveen Sharma.
The CFA Institute Research Challenge was started as a global educational initiative in the year 2006. The aim of the challenge is to give students a chance to work and interact with industry professionals. It also motivates the students to adapt the best practices in the field of research.

NMIMS and JBIMS will now be participating in the finale of the research challenge at all-India levels. The finale will be held in February 2017. The team that wins the national level competition will be representing India at the final of the Asia-Pacific region. CFA Institute Research Challenge is a global phenomenon where students can get hands-on research experience within the industry.
