JEE Main Question Paper 1 February 2023: Day 7 of JEE Main 2023 Session 1 has been conducted on February 1 in two shifts. This is the last day of the Session 1 examination, and the official answer key is expected to be released within 2-3 days. On all days of JEE Main January 2023 session, the difficulty level of JEE Main 2023 question paper remained ‘moderate’, and the Mathematics part was tough in almost all shifts.         JEE Main 1 February 2023 Shift 1: First Reactions

        The first reactions of the students to the paper have been updated below:

        • The overall difficulty level of the paper was average. 
        • Out of the three, Maths was again said to be tough, Chemistry to be moderate, and Physics as easy to moderate.
        • Some questions in maths were completely formula-based. About 2 to 3 questions were from limits & continuity as expected.
        • Physics was again formula-based mainly but there were concept-based questions as well.
        • Chemistry had almost equal weightage to organic and inorganic chemistry in the MCQ section and physical chemistry had more weightage in the NAT section.
        • Maths had about 25% weightage to Class 11 while Physics and Chemistry had about 30-35%.
        • About 2 to 3 questions overall were repeated from the previous year's papers.
        • There were 2 to 3 assertion-reason questions in the paper.
        • In Maths, questions were asked from Vectors & 3D, ITF, coordinate geometry, sets & functions, definite integration, limits, etc.
        • In Physics, questions were asked from electrostatics, laws of motion, modern physics, projectile motion, thermodynamics, etc.
        • In Chemistry, questions were asked from biomolecules, polymers, mole concept, aromatic compounds, block elements, etc.

        JEE Main 1 February 2023 Shift 2: First Reactions

        The first reactions of the students to the paper have been updated below:

        • The paper was similar to that of the earlier shifts of JEE Main January 2023.
        • Maths was not tough but rather lengthy again. Chemistry was moderate and Physics was easy to moderate.
        • Equal weightage was given to organic and inorganic chemistry in the MCQ sub-section and again, physical chemistry was mainly asked in NAT sub-section.
        • Physics too was similar to that of the earlier shifts. The questions were formula-based and some of the questions, about 4 to 5, were concept application-based as well.
        • There were 2 to 3 assertion reason questions.

        As the JEE Main 2023 Session 1 exam is concluding today, the next events in the January exam are the release of the answer key, response sheet and result. JEE Main January 2023 answer key date is expected to be on or before February 5, while the expected JEE Main January 2023 result date is on or after February 10.

          Since 2021, the National Testing Agency has introduced the 'Maximum Cutoff' as opposed to the familiar minimum cutoff percentiles required to qualify the exam. The maximum cutoff is applicable to reserved categories. If a candidate of a reserved category scores more than the maximum cutoff, then he/she will be considered for admission under the general category.

          JEE Main 1 Feb Shift 2 Physics Expectations

          Physics has been fairly easier than the other two sections in all the shifts that happened until yesterday evening. An average of 15 questions in each paper were found be easy, about 10-12 on the moderate and the rest as difficult. When considering the syllabus distribution, about 35% of the paper is expected to come from Class 11 while the rest is expected from Class 12. The questions will mostly be formula-based and 5 to 6 questions are expected to be concept-based.

The NAT section will be dominated by physical chemistry while the MCQ section is expected to have equal weightage to organic and inorganic chemistry.

          The maths paper is likely to be more on the difficult side, not with respect to the questions but how lengthy and calculative they are expected to. Almost more than half of the questions over the past shifts were moderate in the mathematics section but their solutions were lengthy, which the students found difficult.

          JEE Main Question Paper 2023: Can session 1 not applied students apply for session 2?

          Yes, even if a student has not applied for JEE Main 2023 session 1, they can still apply for the second session. Also, it is not mandatory to apply for session 2 if the candidate has applied for session 1. The choice to apply for either or both sessions remains with the students.

          JEE Main 2023 Expected Cutoff

          The cutoff for JEE Main 2023 varies with the reservation category of the candidate. JEE Main 2023 cut off for general category is expected to be around 87 to 88 percentile, for EWS it is 63 to 65 percentile, for OBC it is 67 to 68 percentile. The cutoff drastically reduces for SC/ST categories with it being 43 to 45 percentile for SC and 30 to 35 for ST category.

          No, the cutoff will not be released for JEE Main 2023 Session 1. The National Testing Agency will release JEE Main 2023 cut off based on both sessions. Session-wise cutoffs are not released. The cutoff will be released during the declaration of session 2 results.
