Standard of B.Ed Education in India to be Imrpoved

Apart from the introduction of JEE for B.Ed admissions in India, NCTE is going to take strict action against the B.Ed colleges violating the norms. The major idea and objective of the NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education) is to improve the standard of B.Ed education in the country and make sure that B.Ed graduates are equipped with necessary skills that are necessary for teaching.

According to the observation of NCTE, there are some B.Ed colleges in India, which neither have proper buildings nor faculty. On the other hand, some colleges do not exist in reality and just have approval for running B.Ed colleges. Now, NCTE will take stringent steps to eradicate the irregularities in B.Ed education and revamp the existing system.

In the recent inspections, NCTE figured out that B.Ed students who are graduating from various B.Ed colleges in India lack necessary skills. This scenario is completely influencing the standard of education in schools across the country. Therefore, strict action must be initiated against the B.Ed colleges violating norms.

NCTE Review on B.Ed Education in India

Recently, NCTE inspected almost 19,000 B.Ed colleges in India. As per the inspection, NCTE has made the following review with regard to the B.Ed education in India -

  • Majority of the students joining B.Ed colleges are just completing the course for the sake of getting a certificate, status issue or for marriage purpose. These students neither take up teaching after graduating B.Ed nor indulge in any activities for the enrichment of standard of education in India.
  • According to the RTC Act, the teacher-student ratio in schools should be 1:27. Every year, 19 lakh students are completing B.Ed course in India. The expected number of students in Indian schools is around 26 crore. However, the number of teachers with proper teaching skills are less, and the number of students graduating B.Ed every year is high.
  • Even though NCTE withdraws approval for 10,000 colleges, the number of B.Ed students graduating every year will be three times higher than the requirement.

Biometric Attendance System in all B.Ed Colleges

After observing the poor attendance of students in B.Ed colleges, NCTE has made the biometric system mandatory in all B.Ed colleges across the country. On the other hand, the faculty of B.Ed colleges should also mark biometric attendance regularly.

B.Ed Colleges Should Update their Official Websites Properly

NCTE has directed all the B.Ed colleges to display all the details pertaining to college on their official websites. NCTE officials will randomly inspect the college websites every week, and the colleges which violate norms will lose approval/affiliation/recognition.
