Questions over the removal of NEET as the common basis of admissions to the UG and PG medical courses in India have been answered by the Health Ministry. Latest Statements reveal that the no proposals have been made to remove the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test.

No Proposals for Dissolving NEET

With the National Medical Commission Bill on the verge of being passed, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has stated that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) will not be abolished or removed. The statement had been made by the Junior Health Minister, Ashwini Kumar Choubey while responding to a question asked in the Upper House.

The Junior Minister further added that the rules and regulations outlined by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and the National Medical Commission (NMC), as well as the Supreme Court rulings, authorises a National Level Entrance Exam. The NEET examination qualifies this requirement and also increases the transparency and reduces the burden on aspiring medical students on preparing for different entrance tests.
