The B.Tech students who pursue 8.00 CGPA or above in their 6th semester will be provided with the opportunity to complete their summer project and remaining studies of the final year at IIT Delhi.
As per the memorandum of understanding signed between both Institutes, the B.Tech students from National Institute of Technology (NIT), Trichy will get direct admission to a PhD program at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi. Previously, IIT Delhi has signed a similar memorandum of understanding with NIT Warangal and NIT Agartala too. As per V Ramgopal Rao, the director of IIT Delhi, he is going to invite other NITs too to collaborate with IIT Delhi for a similar motive.

The B.Tech students who have 8.00 CGPA or above in their 6th semester will be provided with the opportunity to complete their summer project and remaining studies of the final year at IIT Delhi. They won’t have to qualify GATE examination as they will be provided direct admission. IIT Delhi will not charge any academic fees from the exchange students as they are already paying fees at NIT Trichy. Moreover, the students will be provided paid in or out campus accommodation for one year by IIT Delhi.

Both the institutes will be exchanging BTech, research scholars, dual degree MTech students, and faculty members who will be termed as special exchange program students and can participate in research studies/ internships/ projects.
The professors from both institutes will be governing the joint research project and provide necessary assistance to the students.
