OBC Post Matric Scholarship 2019- Eligibility, Application Form, Important Dates

Kerala is offering OBC Post Matric Scholarships to students pursuing higher studies outside Kerala in national institutes. The last day for submission of application form along with the documents is August 21st, 2019.

Backward Classes Development Department, Kerala is inviting applications of OBC students pursuing any higher studies courses at National Institutions for OBC Post Matric Scholarship that is 100% assisted by the center.

Students sending applications must belong from the Other Backward Communities of Kerala. Applicants who belong from the Other Eligible Communities are not eligible for this scholarship. Also, students who are receiving financial aid that is equivalent to the financial assistance given to the OEC students are not eligible for the scholarship as they get financial support from Scheduled Caste Development Department. Candidates can go through the list of communities who are eligible for this scholarship on the official website.

The last date for submission of application form and documents of OBC Post Matric Scholarships is 21 August 2019.

OBC Post Matric Scholarship Eligibility Criteria 2019

Candidates who want to apply for the OBC Post Matric Scholarships need to know the OBC Post Matric Scholarships eligibility criteria. For being eligible for the scholarship, the annual income of the applicant’s family must not be more than 1.5 lakhs. The applicants need to be students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate degrees outside Kerala in National institutions like IIM, IIT, IISC, etc. The selection of the candidates should be through the National level selection process.

Note: Students studying in Kerala are not eligible for the scholarship. Students getting scholarships or stipend or concession are not allowed to apply for the OBC Post Matric Scholarships. Only two persons from one family will be eligible for the OBC Post Matric Scholarships. Candidates who are pursuing any high-level course which is not related to the high-level course they did earlier will not be eligible for the OBC Post Matric Scholarships. Students pursuing Medical postgraduate courses will be eligible for the scholarship only if they do not get practicing allowance.

OBC Post Matric Scholarship Application Process 2019

Candidates need to fill the OBC Post Matric Scholarship application form carefully. Candidates along with the application form need to have all the necessary documents. The documents along with the application form need to be submitted to the Regional Deputy Director of BCC. The OBC Post Matric Scholarships application form can be submitted in hand or by post.

The address for submitting the application form for candidates who belongs from the Trivandrum to Ernakulam districts is -

Regional Deputy Director, Backward Classes Development Department, Second Floor, Civil Station, Kakkanad, Ernakulam- 682030

The address for submitting the application form for applicants who belongs from the Thrissur to Kasaragod Districts is -

Regional Deputy Director, Backward Classes Development Department, Civil station, Kozhikode-673020

Note: The OBC Post Matric Scholarship application form should be tied with the necessary documents. The form and the documents need to be placed inside a cover of 35*25 cm. Application for OBC Postmatric Scholarship should be written on the cover.

Documents Required for the OBC Post Matric Scholarship Application Form 2019

Applicants should be well aware of the documents required for the OBC Post Matric Scholarship application form. They should keep the documents ready beforehand. The documents required for the OBC Post Matric Scholarships are given below-

  • Community/ Caste Certificate

  • Income Certificate from Village officer

  • Fee Structure details of the courses certified by the Head of the Institution

  • Fee Receipt

  • Bonafide Certificate

  • Hostel Certificate

  • The first page of their bank passbook in the name of the applicant (it must be attested)

  • Photo Identity card

The application and the documents will be checked and verified by the Regional Deputy Director Office. The students who will be eligible for the scholarship will get the scholarship amount transferred to their bank accounts after being selected.

Note: This scholarship is only given to students for the current year and not for the previous years. Students who became eligible for the scholarship in the previous years need to renew their application along with the course fee structure. This should be attested by the Head of the Institute.
