Placement Percentage for Chemical Engineering in Tamil Nadu Witnesses a Rise

Tamil Nadu engineering colleges have been recording a decent placement percentage for the academic session 2019-20. Chemical Engineering placements witnessed a surge this year.

While the placements for various engineering courses in Tamil Nadu colleges for the academic session 2019-21 are underway, Chemical Engineering students from top colleges across Chennai bagged lucrative job opportunities and surprised everyone. This year, the placement percentage for Chemical Engineering course in Tamil Nadu has witnessed a marginal rise, and this clearly indicates that the career prospects after Chemical Engineering are noteworthy.

For instance, almost 62% of final-year Chemical Engineering at IIT Madras has bagged job opportunities while the highest package went up to Rs. 62.28 lakh per annum. Cohesity was the company which offered this whooping package.

Apart from IIT Madras, other engineering colleges located in Chennai such as College of Engineering (Guindy), Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) also recorded good placement percentage for various UG engineering courses including Chemical Engineering.

The highest salary offered for a student at the College of Engineering (Guindy) was Rs. 39 lakh per annum and this offer have been made by DE Shaw. Top companies like Wipro, TCS, Cognizant also took part in the placements.

So far, almost 88% of UG engineering students at Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology have bagged jobs in various companies, and the institute is aiming to achieve almost 96% placement record this year. The highest package has been offered by Diverta (Rs. 41 Lakh per annum). Almost 1000 students received a salary package of Rs. 10 lakh per annum.

At Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), 85% of engineering students have been placed in various companies till date. Microsoft emerged as the top recruiter, which offered an annual package of Rs. 41.6 lakh to seven students.

In all, engineering colleges located in Tamil Nadu have been recording a decent placement percentage this year.
