Actor Shah Rukh Khan praised the dedication and passion of researcher and said that the scholarship will help her to travel to La Trobe in Melbourne, Australia, in order to enhance her knowledge and to contribute to her motive of enhancing the agricultural area of the Country.
On Wednesday, the Shah Rukh Khan La Trobe PhD Scholarship was awarded to a young researcher in Kerala for her research in the area of animal science, ecology and molecular studies to improve the farming practices. The researcher, Gopika Kottantharayil Bhasi, belongs to Thrissur in Kerala who was chosen mong over 800 women participants, during a ceremony in Mumbai.

In context to this, the Vice-chancellor of La Trobe, Mr Brumby said that it feels honoured that an award which was created to recognise the humanitarian and social justice work by Mr Shah Rukh Khan is going to change the life of a researcher. We feel honoured to be a part of Gopika’s research and welcome her to La Trobe.

Feeling delighted with the scholarship, Gopika stated that she is very excited to travel to La Trobe and work with some of the leading researchers in the area of the honey bee and food production.

In future, Gopika will travel to La Trobe and work with the researchers who are finding cutting edge research to save the honey bees from pollutants, viruses and declining flora diversity.
