Honourable President of India, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee took part in the 24th annual convocation ofNational Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore on August 28, 2016.

Addressing the law students, he motivated them to play a key role in fighting for the rights and welfare of people. Universities like NLSIU must take the challenges like inculcating love towards the motherland, compassion, respect for women, honesty in life, responsibility in action and discipline, self-resistant in conduct, tolerance and pluralism among the young minds.

The President advised the students to read, learn and formulate views on national issues. He opined that democracy can not be healthy without informed participation. Voting periodically is not merely correct. He mentioned that students must play a significant role in all the matters related to governance.

He concluded that the law students must make the people understand on what they have learnt. They must play a significant role in strengthening the political institutions. The students must help the nation in building a workforce of citizens who can access all the services and opportunities that India offers.
