Tamil Nadu National Law School (TNNLS) to Offer LLM Course in Natural Resources Law

Tamil Nadu National Law School (TNNLS) to Offer LLM Course in Natural Resources Law

Tamil Nadu National Law School (TNNLS) has decided to launch one-year LLM course in Natural Resources Law. It is the second university in India to offer such kind of course after Energy and Resources Institute, New Delhi. Already, TNNLS offers specialisation in Corporate and Securities Law and Intellectual Property Rights. The four-year-old institute will witness its first batch of students graduating this year.

The LLM course in Natural Resources Law offered by TNNLS will deal with all the aspects of the natural resource such as land, water and nuclear energy separately. The new LLM course will lay major emphasis on sustainable use of natural resources. The curriculum of the course is being designed with a motive to make students more concerned towards the environment. The course will be highly relevant to the contemporary context. The varsity is expecting a good response to this new LLM course.

Vice Chancellor of TNNLS, Kamala Sankaran revealed that the varsity is all set to introduce Ph.D. courses from this year. On the other hand, the admission to Postgraduate and Undergraduate courses will be based on CLAT (Common Law Admission Test). This year, CLAT exam is scheduled to take place in March. The selection process of TNNLS is entirely different from government law colleges across the Tamil Nadu state, explained by the VC.

At present, TNNLS reserves 50% of seats to the students belonging to Tamil Nadu. The varsity is aiming to enrol a high number of students from rural areas across Tamil Nadu.
