UGC asks Colleges & Universities to take Preventive Measures in Lieu of Coronavirus

As per the advisory, any student or faculty, if found to have any history with Coronovirus or with a person in contact, should be constantly monitored and home quarantined for at least 14 days.

UGC appeal for Corvid-19

In lieu of the Coronavirus spreading in the country, the University Grants Commission has appealed the colleges & Universities to take preventive measures against the virus. The UGC has names the measure as "a coordinated and collective effort in a mission mode” and has requested all the universities and affiliated colleges to collectively become a part of it. Apart from this, UGC has also asked the varsities to follow the preventive measures as prescribed for the reduction of the spreading virus.

In the context of the preventive measures, UGC has appealed varsities to avoid any large gatherings on the college campus. As per the advisory, any student or faculty, if found to have any history with Coronovirus or with a person in contact, should be constantly monitored and home quarantined for at least 14 days. This advisory by UGC has been in following of the advisory given by Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry which has asked all the UT and states to take preventive measures in order to spread awareness among the students.

UGC has asked the varsities to follow the given preventive measures in order to stay safe of the virus:

  • The faculty members and students of the college must be taught about basic health practices and respiratory hygiene methods.

  • The staff members should be alert towards the symptoms of the students such as coughing, difficulty in breathing and should get the students tested immediately.

  • As long as advised by the doctor, the students should not join the campus.

The number of people tested positive for CORVID-19 increased drastically in the past few days with 14 Italian tourists found to be Coronavirus positive.
