The state government of Uttar Pradesh has given the nod for lateral entry scheme in eight diploma courses from the upcoming academic session. With the new admission norm, intermediate students will have to chance to get admission in the second-year diploma course. The government has also revised the eligibility criterion for two diploma courses. An official notification has been issued stating the guidelines for lateral entry option in eight diploma courses and revised eligibility criteria for two diploma courses.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process for Lateral Entry in Diploma Courses: -
- According to the official notification, students who passed or are pursuing intermediate from science stream are eligible for the admission to second-year of the diploma course.
- Similarly, students with ITI certificate will also be eligible for the lateral entry in diploma courses.
- The admission to diploma courses under lateral entry scheme will be based on state-level entrance examination conducted by UPBTE (Uttar Pradesh Board of Technical Education).
- The technical institutes can reserve 10% of seats for lateral entry in eight diploma courses.

- Textile Technology
- Fashion Designing
- Printing Technology
- Information Technology
- Electronic Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
The state government has revised the eligibility criterion for the following courses: -
- Diploma in Pharmacy
- Diploma in Hotel Management and Catering Technology
Revised Eligibility Criterion for Diploma in Pharmacy: -
- From the upcoming academic session, candidates aspiring to join Diploma in Pharmacy must note that Physics and Chemistry must be mandatory in Intermediate to seek admission.
New Eligibility Criterion for Diploma in Management and Catering Technology: -
- From the upcoming academic session, the minimum marks required in intermediate to join Diploma in Management and Catering Technology is 35% (earlier it was 50%).
