In order to promote cross-cultural learning, a student board meeting- ‘CEMS’ consisting of top B-schools from around the world was held recently. On asking about the same to the dean of IIM Calcutta New Initiatives and External Relations Prof Uttam Kumar Sarkar, he said that the meeting was a great exposure for students.
He pointed out that this will not only act as a platform for promoting cross- cultural learning but will also provide the 30 students representing different schools with great exposure.
This year, the CEMS alliance with IIM-C has completed a span of three years. The head office at CEMS decided to host the student board meeting at IIM-C. The meeting invited 30 students from top B-schools all across the world along with five staff members from the CEMS head office.
IIM-C Dean added that the opportunity given to the institute by CEMS will provide the students of the institute as well as the students participating in the board meeting with great world class exposure.
Back in the year 2013, IIM-C and CEMS formed an alliance. This was an effort by the institute to establish itself as a global institution.
Along with other 30 European, Asian, Australian and American schools of business, about 70 MNCs and four NGOs, IIMC is also a part of the CEMS now.
