Top DU Colleges – St Stephen’s, Hindu Not Listed in MHRD Rankings! Find Out Why!
St Stephen’s, Sri Venkateswara, Hindu and Ramjas College of the Delhi University were not mentioned amongst the list of top 10 colleges compiled by the National Institutional Ranking Framework.
St Stephen’s, Sri Venkateswara, Hindu and Ramjas College of the Delhi University were not mentioned amongst the list of top 10 colleges compiled by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). Many popular colleges of DU – one of the elitist universities in the country – did not apply for the ranking procedure.
Principals of some of these colleges stated that they had missed the application deadline while others said that they were occupied conducting other important inspections. However, administration of most of the colleges agreed that they will be applying for the ranking process next year.
Following are some other DU colleges that did not apply for NIRF Rankings 2017:
- Hansraj College
- Kamala Nehru College
- Jesus and Mary College
- Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College
- Kirori Mal College
- Daulat Ram College
- Gargi College

The Principal of Kirori Mal College, Dinesh Khattar informed that the college was busy with NAAC inspections during the application procedure for NIRF Rankings. Rama Sharma, Acting Principal of Hansraj College; Principal of Sri Venkateswara College, P Hemalatha Reddy and Jaswinder Singh, Principal of SGTB Khalsa also said that they missed the application deadline.
NIRF rankings have been given utmost importance as all government funding will be provided based on this assessment. Also, according to the Government, institutes with higher NIRF rankings will be offered greater autonomy as well as better international exposure.

The institutes ranked by NIRF have been assessed on the basis of 20 parameters including academic values and general opinion. The framework also focused on evaluating institutes on the basis of resources invested in research outcomes as well as the reputation of the institute amongst employers.
