Daulat Ram College, also known as DRC, comes under the University of Delhi and is situated in Delhi itself. DRC was founded in 1960 by the magnanimous educationalist Daulat Ram Gupta, hence called ‘Daulat Ram College’. The college was shifted to its present premises in Roop Nagar in 1964. This women’s college is awarded ‘A’ grade by the NAAC (the National Assessment & Accreditation Council), accredited form UGC (University Grants Commission) and is affiliated by the University of Delhi.
Formerly known as Pramila College, DRC has been providing profuse education to women. With the best faculty in every course, the college has 19 departments providing 27 courses (out of which 20 are Undergraduate courses and 7 Postgraduate courses) in different streams. The college is best known for its undergraduate courses in Arts. It also exhibits Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses in foreign languages like French, German, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. Given the charm of the North Campus area makes it even more demanding during admissions.
The college happens to have its own kitchen garden and has one of the best hostels in the University of Delhi along with a Library, Laboratories, Computer Lab, Seminar Hall, Amphitheatre and an Auditorium. It also provides additional campus facilities such as ATM, Gym, Medical Aid Room and much more.
Daulat Ram College is a sea of various societies and activities that enable thousands of women to live the ever so elusive life of Delhi University. Fostering a unique array of cultural societies and activities, the college provides numerous platforms for women to showcase their talents. It has a Western Dance Society (Zenith), Classical Dance Society (Annhad), Music Society (Alahyaa), Fashion Society (Debanoir) and many more along with the most happening hangout spot for the students - Nescafe.
Being one of the premier Delhi University Colleges and it’s vicinity to the other star North Campus Colleges, it demands a really high percentage from students to get accepted here. The closing cut-offs here can go as high as 96 per cent.
Apart from the gazillion reasons to apply for Daulat Ram College, it also has its own placement cell providing placements in Infosys, Fortis, Tata, etc. to more than 80 percent students every year. The highest package of the students that get placed can go up to 5.5 Lakhs.
Students belonging to Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes are awarded Post- Matric Scholarships by the Directorate of Education, Delhi Administration. Forms will be available in the College Office. These should be filled, accompanied by necessary certificates/documents.
