Ramjas College is one of the popular colleges among DU aspirants. It is located in the North Campus of the Delhi University. It is one of the first three colleges established under the Delhi University. It was founded in pre-independent India (1917) by the prominent educationist and philanthropist, Rai Kedar Nath. It started from the humble precincts of Darya Ganj and now takes pride in having a spacious campus, esteemed faculty and state-of-art-infrastructure.
Ramjas is a co-educational college which admits teachers and students belonging to different communities irrespective of caste, creed, color, and religion. Ramjas College believes in imparting holistic education will just not be confined within the walls of academic excellence. It believes in the exchange of thoughts between students and the students which in turn helps in the betterment of the college.
The Department of Mathematics at Ramjas College is considered to be the best under Delhi University. In January 2004, the college arranged its first ever Conference of Graduate Students of Economics from the SAARC countries. The Ramjas College organizes several such seminars and workshops where students from all across the country and abroad participate. It is also known for advanced infrastructure which helps the students to learn things in an interactive manner and explore the unexplored.
The Ramjas College has witnessed and experienced the footfall of certain famous personalities which has enriched its historical archive by a number of notches. It was inaugurated by the Father of The Nation- Mahatma Gandhi. The famous American Leader Martin Luther King Jr also visited the College. Dr.Rajendra Prasad, the first President of independent India inaugurated the present building of the Ramjas College. Dr.B.R Ambedkar has also acted as the Chairman of the Governing Body of the Ramjas College. The college offers the number of graduate and post-graduate courses and also courses on several foreign languages.
