The executive committee of the Consortium of National Law Universities had decided in a meeting held on June 29, 2020, that CLAT 2020 will be conducted in exam centres via online mode. This decision was made after reviewing all the lockdown instructions laid down by the Government of India. Furthermore, an offline test will require a large scale movement of students to exam centres and handling the question papers and answer scripts of such a massive number of applicants will not be possible in these circumstances.

But at the same time, it is also not possible for all the students to have access to the necessary technological facilities in order to appear for the test. Hence, the option of conducting an online test at various exam centres by following all social distancing norms and following public health safety prescriptions is the most appropriate choice.
