With the situation in Jammu and Kashmir at a hold along with other issues faced by students across states like Bihar and Nepal, the Federation of Self-Financing Technical Institutions (FSFTI) and the Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA) have asked the Central Government for extending the admissions dates. Both FSFTI and PUCA have asked both MHRD and the AICTE to move the last dates to take admission to the technical courses, up from 15th August 2019 to 15th September 2019.
The President FSFTI and PUCA, Dr Anshu Kataria said that due to the restrictions on the internet as well as the mobile connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir, it was impossible for the students to be able to take part in the admission process of the colleges, this year.
Another issue that had been raised by the Senior Vice-President of PUCA, Amit Sharma, had been that the Patna High Court had given orders to stay on Bihar Government’s notification on the Bihar Student Credit Card scheme, wherein the scheme will be applicable if the educational institution has been accreditated a NAAC grade “A”, or has been accredited by NBA or has a NIRF Ranking. This led to confusion among the students with regards to the admissions, sources state, for almost an entire month.
The Vice-President of PUCA, Gurgateh Singh also added that the floods in different states such as Bihar, Nepal and other Northeastern states had forced the students to be unavailable for the admission processes. Sources have stated that the Supreme Court had issued an order previously, wherein, the last dates for the admissions in the different technical courses such as Management, Engineering, Pharmacy, Architecture, etc.

With the extension of the admission deadlines, it will make the lives of the students who have been affected by the recent chain of events that have been taking place in the country. Thus, further providing a helping hand to the affected states and their students. However, delay in the admission process will affect the curriculum of the courses that the students will be joining.
