AYUSH is a set of courses that is related to the medical stream in India and the courses comprise studying the traditional sector of medical practice such as Homeopathy, Unani etc. Many colleges in India take admission in AYUSH courses on the basis of NEET UG Examination scores and conduct counselling for admission. Like medical, most of the seats for AYUSH are reserved for state domicile students in the various institutes. However, 15% of the seats in all the AYUSH courses are reserved for AIQ or All India Quota. The admissions of state quota are followed by the completion of AYUSH AIQ admissions.NEET 2020 exam has been postponed due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
What is AYUSH and What are AYUSH Courses in India?
AYUSH is an abbreviated form of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy. The Ministry of AYUSH is an Indian governmental body with the purpose of education, research, and developments in the field of alternative medicine. Following are the courses that come under AYUSH.
Ayurveda
Ayurveda is the traditional medicinal practice of ancient India, it has survived through times and the knowledge of Ayurveda is derived from ancient scriptures and is adapted according to modern times. It is now considered as a practice of alternative medicine. The UG degree for Ayurveda is Bachelors of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery or BAMS
Yoga and Naturopathy
Yoga is a practice of ancient Indian body exercises and breathing techniques. This is one of the most ancient forms of physical exercise which is now popular all over the world. The western countries have also adopted yoga practices and studies. Naturopathy belongs to the ancient Latin European traditions of medical practice which focuses on self-healing of the body. Naturopathy word is derived from ‘Nature’ as it focuses on natural remedies. The degrees offered for Yoga and Naturopathy are generally B.Sc or BPT.
Unani
Like Ayurveda, Unani or Yunani is a medical practice that originated in Ancient Persia and now considered one of the most popular practices of alternative medicine. The Unani practices were brought in India by the Persian and Mughal rulers of India. The degree awarded for bachelors in Unani is Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery or BUMS
Siddha
Along the same lines as Ayurveda, Siddha is a medicinal practice from ancient India. Originated from Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka in Palm-Leaf manuscripts, Siddha is one of the most popular alternative medicine practices in India. It also focuses on natural self-healing stimulation from herbs. The bachelor's degree provided for Siddha Practitioners is Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery or BSMS
Homeopathy
Homeopathy is another alternative-medicine practice invented by Samuel Hahnemann in the Middle of 18thh Century Europe. This practice is famous worldwide and also focuses on the self-healing of the body. The degree awarded in the bachelors of Homeopathy is Bachelor of Homoeopathy Medicine and Surgery (BHMS).

AYUSH All India Quota (AIQ) Eligibility Criteria 2021
The eligibility criteria for applying for AYUSH courses is along similar lines as NEET. The following are some of the key points regarding the AYUSH eligibility criteria.
- The applicants should have qualified for the NEET examination.
- The applicants must have completed 10+2 with the combination of Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Biotechnology (PCB) and English as the compulsory subjects with a minimum of 50% marks acquired, for SC/ST category, 40% marks are required and 45% marks for Physically Handicap (PH) candidates.
AYUSH All India Quota (AIQ) Counselling Process 2021
For registering with AIQ in the AYUSH Institute admissions, one has to register on the NEET Counselling website. The steps and process of counselling are as follows:
- The candidate has to first register on the official NEET counselling website by filling up online forms and paying the registration amount online.
- Then the candidate has to do ‘Choice Filling and Looking,’ in this step the candidate has to fill his/her choice of course and select the colleges he/she wants admission in.
- After the locking of choices, the candidate has to wait for the seat allotment results publishing. The seat allotment will be depending upon the availability of seats in the institute, choice, and the NEET score of the candidate.
- After the candidate has been allotted an institute of his/her choice, he/she has to visit the college with an allotment letter for securing admission
- If the candidate cannot get a seat in the college of his/her choice, the candidate can again register for the next rounds, the process is the same as mentioned before.
AYUSH All India Quota (AIQ) Admission Fee 2021
The candidates who are interested in the AYUSH course admission will have to register themselves online for the counselling process. The online registration will be taken from the official neet counselling website. Following are the fees for registration:

At the time of visiting the college for securing admissions, some documents are needed for verification purposes. The documents are as follows:
- 10th passing certificate (As age proof)
- 12th passing certificate
- Admit card of NEET-UG 2021
- Result/scorecard of NEET-UG 2021
- Category certificate (if required)
- Nativity or resident certificate
- ID Proof (Any of Aadhaar Card, Voter Card, Passport, etc)
- School (or college) leaving certificate
- Passport size photos - 8
- Birth certificate of the candidate
- Caste certificate of the candidate (if applicable)
