The HRD Ministry has announced the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Rankings 2020 on June 11. This is the fifth edition of NIRF Rankings. The framework was started in 2015 to devise a methodology of ranking institutions across India.
Participating institutes were judged on the basis of various parameters including ‘Teaching, Learning and Resources’, ‘Graduation Outcomes’, ‘Research and Professional Practices’, ‘Outreach and Inclusivity’ as well as ‘Perception’. The first list of NIRF Institutes was launched on April 4, 2016.

The officials also added that the number of participating colleges will increase every year as now colleges have started collecting information required for NIRF rankings.
Also, some of the institutes have participated in the process for the first time under the new categories that were added including law, architecture and medicine. Most of the basis of the parameters which the institutes have been ranked remained the same as earlier.
