Minister of School Education, Maharashtra – Varsha Gaikwad has announced that the FYJC admission process for the year 2021-22 will be based on option Common Entrance Test (CET). All the students aspiring for admission in Junior Colleges across the state will have to clear the CET, and the first preference in the admission process in all FYJCs will be given to candidates with a CET score. If any vacant seats left after filling the merit-seats through CET, those seats will be filled on the basis of Class 10 marks.
CET for FYJC will be conducted offline, and the candidates will need to mark answers on the OMR sheet. The question paper will have 100 multiple choice questions. The detailed exam pattern, dates, registration process and official notification will be released soon. The exam will be based on Class 10 syllabus, and the detailed list of subjects and chapters will be notified along with the official notification.
The Government of Maharashtra took the decision to conduct CET for FYJC admissions 2021 with an aim to maintain uniformity in the admission process. As the Class 10 2021 results calculation will be based on internal assessment, it is important to conduct a CET for FYJC admission so that the bright students do not get affected. All the junior colleges will strictly need to admit students on the basis of CET.
Recently, Government of Maharashtra sought feedback from teachers, parents and students with regard to conducting CET for FYJC admissions from 2021. Most of the teachers and parents favored an entrance exam for 11th admissions.
