Maharashtra CET Cell to Plan Student Friendly Admissions

After experiencing several complications in the previous year, the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) cell has decided to instil several options in order to make the admission process more seamless.

The cell had been introduced in the year 2015 as an attempt to assist the students for admission into various graduate and postgraduate degrees for Engineering, Agriculture, and Pharmacy. However, due to various flaws in the cell’s admission process, the admissions into various institutes got delayed last year, resulting in reduced semester period for the colleges. Not only this, but other students seeking admission into other higher technical courses also faced several issues during the admission.

Currently, Maharashtra CET has a total of 120 admission centres across the state dedicated to higher technical courses admissions. However, the cell is also planning to enhance the outreach by establishing more similar centres in the state. Along with this, CET cell is also planning to open facilitating centres for the training of teachers.

Recently, CET cell organised outreach program for the colleges in Pune and Mumbai for the first time where the teachers and college representatives communicated their suggestions. Now, the cell is planning to organise similar events for Nagpur, Aurangabad, Nashik, and Amravati.

In context to this, Sandip Kadam, the commissioner of CET Cell said that the commission is exploring the web-based outreach for a seamless admission process. For this, CET Cell is planning to introduce videos for cutoff, the admission process, and course requirements.

He further added that the website of CET will also have an option of easy JPEG to PDF conversion and after the admission process, each student will receive a fee receipt which will enlist the documents the student has to bring for the admission.
