The drop has been registered first time after 2016. When asked, students gave various different reasons for this decrement in the number of aspirants from Tamil Nadu. The state of Tamil Nadu has also been indulged in the opposition of the exam for a long time. One of the major reasons behind this is the affordability of the exam.

According to the Tamil Nadu Government, NEET is discriminatory in nature. The aspirants who are financially poor or belong to rural placed in India find it difficult to keep up with the syllabus of the NEET, consequently, losing the chance to get admission in MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery). Since the NEET 2020 exam is the most popular exam for BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) and MBBS admission 2020, students have been facing problems dealing with the issue.

The increased cut-off scores of NEET 2020 has also made it tough for state board students from Tamil Nadu. Another reason according to the students is the repeaters get seats posing a lose for first-time applicants. The state government of Tamil Nadu has also made many efforts to remove the requirements to appear in the exam. The government even moved to the SCI (Supreme Court of India) on 6th Jan 2020 regarding the same.

The issue needs to be resolved otherwise, the state could witness a further dip in the numbers. Now whether and how this issue is resolved, that only time will tell. Until then, here are some important links regarding NEET 2020 that candidates must not miss.
