The Government of Uttar Pradesh has announced a fixed price on the Hostel Fee as well as the Security Deposit for the undergraduate students in Medical and Dental Colleges of Uttar Pradesh for its bachelor courses like MBBS and BDS.
As per sources, the UP Government has decided to fix the maximum price to be around ₹3 lakhs for the security deposit and ₹1.5 lakhs for the hostel fees. A government order was released by Principal Secretary Rajnish Dubey stating the various complaints had been received by the Technical Education Minister Ashutosh Tandon alleging that the Medical and Dental Colleges in UP had been charging excessively in respect of the hostel fee and the security deposit. The statement read that the institutions were demanding the fees as they wished, which is contrary to the provisions that have been given.

The Government released order also mentioned that all the fees including the Tuition fee should be collected annually rather than in advance. Sources state that this has been done in order to reduce the financial burden that the students go through. The step was introduced after many complaints were raised by students after they had been asked to pay the fees in advance, thus, increasing the pressure on them.

The students who are interested in pursuing any of the medical programmes in Uttar Pradesh recently been provided with good news, as many institutes, as well as seats, have been added for medical programmes. As many as 1,000 more medical seats are set to be added in the next few years as well.
