NTA to Conduct CUCET for 15 Central Universities

NTA will be conducting CUCET for acadmic session 2020-21 for admission into 15 central universities in India. Central Universities of Assam, Kerela, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and various other states are a part of the pact. 

NTA to Conduct CET 2020-2021

National Testing Agency has decided to conduct a common entrance test for 15 Central Indian Universities in the coming academic session of 2020 21. The announcement was made on 17th October 2019 after the proposal got a nod from the Ministry of Human Resource & Development. As per the current data, Central Universities form Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Kerela, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Jammu, Jharkhand and many other states are a part of this proposal. NTA is working towards convincing central universities of other states to join the pact.

Earlier this year, NTA also conducted the Central University Common Entrance Test (CUCET) for the University of Rajasthan. NTA has also conducted JNU and Delhi University Entrance Exams for specific courses. But, it will be the first time when NTA will be conducting an exam for so many central universities together. The CET is most likely to be a computer-based examination.

The reports claim that CET will be conducted in the month of May for academic session 2020-21. As of now, there are 15 CUs that are in the pact but the number might rise if more universities nod the NTA proposal. The test will be conducted for approx to 50 Bachelor courses, 170 Masters courses, and 100 Mphil & Doctoral courses.

According to an HRD ministry official, NTA ha the potential to become a leading testing agency of India as it has already delivered transparent results for various important entrance examinations like - NEET, JEE Mains, UGC NET, IGNOU, DUET, CMAT, GPAT, etc.

HRD Ministry is working on convincing state universities to consider NTA - CUCET 2020-21 scores in their admission process. They are also trying to rope in more central universities to accept CUCET 2020-21 for upcoming admissions.

NTA’s CUCET 2020-21 will be benefiting students in many ways, one particularly being that the students will not be needing to fill out multiple forms for admissions. One single form will be catering to admissions in all the central universities. The details of the upcoming CUCET 2020-21 are yet to be released.
