About GPAT 2019

GPAT 2019 (short for Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test) will be conducted on 28th January, 2019. GPAT is a national-level entrance test, which will be organised by the National Testing Agency from 2019 onwards instead of the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). Through this examination, candidates get admission in the postgraduate programmes in Pharmacy. GPAT 2019 registration will begin from 1st November 2018 and will carry on until 30th November 2018.

GPAT 2019 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility norms for appearing in GPAT 2019 is defined by NTA (National Testing Agency). Candidates should go through the norms before filling the online application form. Following is the GPAT 2019 eligibility criteria:

  • Candidate should be a citizen of India.
  • Candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, which means that 4 years after 10+2, including lateral entry candidates.
  • Candidates in the final year of B. Pharmacy programme are also eligible to appearing in the GPAT exam.
  • B.Tech in Pharmaceutical and fine chemical technology/any Equivalent examination candidates are not eligible to appear for GPAT examination.
  • There is no upper age limit for this examination.

GPAT 2018 Exam Analysis

GPAT is a popular exam for admission to best M.Pharm Colleges in India. Conducted by AICTE every year in the month of January, the online exam is a gateway for students to pursue higher education in the field of Pharmacy. Once the result is out, the admission rounds take place until the month of April and the academic sessions start in July-Aug. GPAT 2017 Exam Analysis

GPAT 2017 was conducted on 28th & 29th January 2018. Overall, the examination was easy as compared to the GPAT exam conducted in 2016. According to some students, 3 hours was sufficient for them to complete the paper and they even had spare time to review their answers. The questions asked in the paper were from various topics including Microbiology, Ceutics, Pharmaceutical Jurisprudance, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Medicinial Chemistry, Cognosy, Organic & Inorganic Chemistry, Cology & Pharmaceutical Management.

Section-wise Analysis of GPAT 2017

Pharma Ceutics: This section was quite simple. Out of the total 20 questions, around 12-14 turned out to be quite easy as they only required implementation of basic concepts. Around 15-17 attempts with 90% accuracy was considered good for this section.

Cognosy: With moderate difficulty level, this section had many direct questions. Out of the 19 questions, around 13-15 attempts with 90% accuracy was considered good.

Pharmaceutical Analysis: Rated as an easy section to attempt, it had a total of 13 questions. In this section, there were 3 Statement/Conclusion type questions. Also, there were single questions only and no set-based questions in this section. Out of the 13 questions, around 8-9 attempts with 90% accuracy was considered good.

Chemistry (Medicinal/Organic/Inorganic): The difficulty level of this section was easy-to-medium, with total number of 30 questions. Around 15-17 attempts with 85-90% accuracy was considered good.

Pharma Cology: There were around 15 questions in this section and the difficulty level was moderate. Around 9-11 attempts with 85% accuracy was considered good.

Pharmaceutical Jurisprudance/Pharmaceutical Management/Microbiology: This section had been rated as easy. Out of all 26 questions, around 6-8 attempts with 90% accuracy was considered good.

GPAT 2019 Participating Colleges

The Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) is conducted by the NTA (short for National Testing Agency) for admission to various pharmacy colleges across the country. Candidates who qualify in the entrance exam will become eligible to apply for admission to Master of Pharmacy (M.Phama) programmes offered at GPAT 2019 participating institutes/colleges. The participating colleges /institutes of GPAT 2019 are the colleges where the score of the entrance exam will be accepted and successful candidates will be considered for admission. The GPAT score is accepted by all AICTE-approved Institutions/University Departments/Constituent Colleges/Affiliated Colleges. There are more than 916 approved pharmacy colleges/institutions/universities in the country.

Candidates can check the GPAT 2019 post the examination. But before checking the cut-off, they must check the GPAT result  to see their score and rank. It is to be noted that candidates have to apply for the admissions separately and there is no common counselling conducted for GPAT 2019. GPAT 2019 Result

GPAT 2019 Result is expected to be released on 10th February 2019 on NTA-GPAT official website. Post the result announcement, candidates must take a print out of their respective GPAT 2019 scorecards for further counselling and admission process.

  • Log in to the official website of GPAT.
  • Click on the link “View Result” tab.
  • You will be redirected to a new page where you will be required to enter your login credentials such as your Registered Email ID and password.
  • Then, click on ‘Sign In’ tab.
  • You will get access to your GPAT 2019 Scorecard.
  • Download the GPAT 2019 Scorecard and take a print out for further admission process.

Note: While checking the result, candidates may face some discrepancies with the server related to the GPAT official website due to tremendous load on it. However, they will be able to easily download their result after 3-4 hours.

GPAT 2019 scorecard is one of the most important documents post the announcement of result. GPAT 2019 Counselling Process

GPAT 2019 Counselling Process will start tentatively in the third week of February 2019. Those who successfully pass GPAT 2019 with qualifying scores will be eligible for counselling.

GPAT 2019 Cut-off

NTA (short for National Testing Agency) will release the GPAT 2019 cut-off after the announcement of the GPAT 2019 Result in the month of February 2019. The cut-off for GPAT is basically the minimum marks, which a candidate must secure to be able to qualify the entrance exam. Candidates who are appearing for GPAT will be shortlisted on the basis of the cut-off marks, specified by the GPAT 2019 participating institutes. The cut-off will depend on multiple aspects such as the number of candidates, seats, marking scheme and the difficulty level.

The GPAT cut-off will be different for candidates belonging to different categories. Based on the GPAT cut-off, candidates can find out where all they can apply for admission. Candidates will become eligible to participate in the GPAT counselling process only if they qualify the entrance exam and meet the cut-off. Those who do not meet the cut-off will not be considered eligible for the further admission rounds.

GPAT 2019 Admit Card

The GPAT 2019 admit card will be issued by National Testing Agency (NTA) on 7th January. The GPAT admit card/hall ticket is usually released in online mode on the official website of GPAT. To download the admit card of GPAT, test-takers will have to enter their login credentials – Login ID and Password on the official website.

The GPAT 2019 entrance exam will be held on 28th January 2019, and it is mandatory for GPAT aspirants to carry their GPAT 2019 admit card and a photo ID proof to the exam center.

There is no provision for sending GPAT admit card/hall ticket via post or by any other offline means. However, the admit card of GPAT is also sent to the registered e-mail address of the candidates.

How to Apply for GPAT 2019

The Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) 2019 Registration Process will begin on 1st November 2018 and continue until 30th November 2018. GPAT will be organised by NTA (National Testing Agency) for admission to Postgraduate Pharmacy courses. GPAT Conducting Body

The Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test, commonly known as GPAT, is a national level entrance examination organised by the National Testing Agency (NTA) as per the guidelines of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. This examination facilitates the institutions to select suitable Pharmacy graduates for admission to M.Pharm programmes. The GPAT score is accepted by all AICTE approved Institutions/University Departments/Constituent Colleges/Affiliated Colleges. Some scholarships and other financial assistance in the field of Pharmacy are also given on the basis of GPAT score.
