Girls from Odisha Bag 22 Gold Medals at AIIMS Bhubaneswar Convocation

Students at AIIMS Bhubaneswar swept whopping 22 gold medals at the convocation ceremony of the institute. Both the students were girls who received high honours by topping in different MBBS subjects taking the position of  'Best Graduate (MBBS)' of their respective batches. 

Girls Fetch 22 Gold Medals at AIIMS Bhubaneswar Convocation

Two girls from AIIMS Bhubaneswar (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) completed their MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) degree from the institute. Because of their excellent performance during the course, the girls have received 22 gold medals at the annual convocation of AIIMS Bhubaneswar. The second and third convocation of the institute was held in two sessions on Saturday, 29th February 2020.

Rasalin Parida from Cuttack received 13 gold medals at the convocation. Parida, daughter of a Forest Dept employee belonged to 2014 MBBS batch. Out of 12 subjects at the undergraduate level course, Rosalin topped in nine subjects. The subjects that got her gold medals were Community and Family Medicine, physiology, Pathology, Biochemistry, Forensic Medicine, Pharmacology, General Medicine, Toxicology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Paediatrics. Other than this, she also received a gold medal as the best graduate in her batch. Rosalin is now pursuing a postgraduate degree in Medicine from AIIMS-Delhi (All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi). On being addressed for such great achievement, Rosalin said that she feels proud of herself and will continue working in the same field.

Manisha Mohanty from Bhuvaneswar received nine gold medals at the second and third convocation. Mohanty, daughter of a Chemical Engineer belonged to 2013 MBBS batch. Manish received gold medals for a total of six subjects including Community and Family Medicine, Anatomy, Forensic Medicine, Microbiology, Biochemistry and General Medicine. She was also awarded for being the best graduate of the year 2013 (MBBS batch). When asked about her future in medicine, Manisha said that she wishes to pursue higher study in the field of Neurology.

The president of the Public Health Foundation of India, K Shreenath Reddy attended the convocation at AIIMS Bhubaneswar as a chief guest. Subrat Acharya, President, AIIMS Bhubaneswar; Gitanjali Batmanabane, Director, AIIMS Bhubaneswar; faculty members and students also attended the convocation ceremony.
