The central government is planning to offer only 13% of PM Research Fellowships (135 out of 1,000) this year. The PMRF (Prime Minister Research Fellowship) scheme, which was announced by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley earlier this year, aims to regulate brain drain in India by offering direct admission to Ph.D. courses in IITs and IISc.
The PMRF scheme is applicable only to a limited number of students pursuing final year B.Tech/ Integrated M.Tech/ Integrated M.Sc from IISc/ IITs/ NITs/ IISERs/ IIEST.
