140 Student delegates gear up to discuss pertinent issue in VIPS MUN

The Model United Nations (MUN) Society of Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies successfully organized its 3rd Intra Edition on February 12. In this intra-iteration of MUN, three councils were stimulated accommodating over 140 delegates from across the streams.
The councils and agenda were chosen, keeping in mind the pertinent issues that deserve consideration and perseverance and collective efforts towards a peaceful settlement.
The respective agenda for the council included-
- United Nations General Assembly
- Situation in Crimea
- United Nations Human Rights Council
- Rights and Protection of Human Rights Defenders
- All India Political Parties Meet
- The viability of Capital Punishment in India in the wake of Yakub Memon's hanging ( Freeze date : Before the Law Commissions' Report).
In bringing a diverse and varied, highly experienced Executive Board, special emphasis was on the learning of the delegates, quite a few of whom were first-timers. The Board reiterated the Rules of Procedure for those who were unfamiliar and presided over the deliberations in such a manner that the debate could be kept alive.
The event came to an end with the Chef de Cabinet and Dean, External Relations and Protocol, VIPS, Prof. (Dr.) Shilpa Khatri Babbar, along with the Secretary General Dhruv Pande, thanking the faculty coordinators. Best Delegate, High Commendation, and Special Mention were recognized and duly awarded for their research and debating skills. This exercise is primarily a prelude to the mega event which the VIPSMUN Society holds in the even semester.
