AFRC Notifies Private Medical Colleges to Fix Fees
- AFRC asks private medical colleges to fix course fees for a blocked duration of three years.
- The institutes have also been asked to submit an affidavit in this regard.
According to the notification issued by the Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee (AFRC), private medical colleges will now have to fix fees for a blocked duration of three years. The rule will also be applicable to all medical courses offered by such colleges.
The notification also asked these colleges to submit an affidavit stating that an action will be taken against the colleges who fail to fulfill the fixation of fee criteria as mentioned above or any other irregularities in this regard.
Issuing the notification, the committee mentioned that it is mandatory for colleges to follow rules and regulations that have been laid down by the AFRC . Commenting on the new notification, OSD of the Committee , Alok Chaube, said that colleges have been asked to submit an affidavit for the first time.

He also added that the AFRC does not indulge in any kind of inspections and that the course fees will be finalized on the basis of the data provided by the respective colleges. He also added that the step has been taken because few colleges had submitted false information in the past.
Colleges have been asked to submit affidavit to maintain transparency and prevent exploitation in the name of fees. Sources also added that some of the colleges had approached the committed regarding fixation for different courses fee running in the same building.

According to AFRC, last date to apply for fee fixation is March 5, 2018. On failing to fulfill the criteria , the committee will impose a heavy penalty these colleges, Chaube added.
