AP and TS Sankranthi Holidays 2023 for Schools: Check dates, know school re-opening date
Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have declared Sankranthi Holidays for schools. The schools in AP are likely to re-open on January 18 and January 18 in Telangana respectively.
AP and TS Sankranthi Holidays 2023:
Sankranthi is a huge festival celebrated in south Indian states like Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. All of India, people celebrate this festival to worship the sun. In recent years, Telangana schools have been given less time off for Christmas in order to accommodate Sankranthi, also known as Pongal. Along with Telangana, the Andhra Pradesh government has also declared holidays for Pongal from 12th January to 17th January. According to the state government, the schools will reopen on 18th January 2023.
Whereas in the state of Telangana, Sankranthi holidays are likely to be announced for six days from 13th to 17th January 2023, according to the Education Ministry. It is expected that Telangana schools will reopen on 18th January 2023.

In the state of Andhra Pradesh, Sankranti holidays were criticized by teachers' associations and unions. A 10-day holiday was earlier announced by the government for Sankranti, and the teachers' association was brought to the attention of state Education Minister Botsa Satyanarayana. There has been a positive response from the minister, and it is expected that the state will extend the Sankranti holidays for schools.
