Bihar Govt. to Set Up Three Agricultural Colleges

With an aim to boost the development of farm sector, the State Government of Bihar has given approval for setting up three agricultural colleges . The following are the three colleges that will be set up by the Bihar government: -

• Agriculture Business Management College, Patna
• Agriculture Engineering, Community Science and Food Technology College, Gaya
• Biotechnology College, Ara

All the above three institutes are affiliated to Bihar Agriculture University . The all-round development of agriculture sector can be possible only if there are more institute working towards research and development in the field.

The state government is also planning to launch a scholarship scheme at PG (Post Graduate) level to prepare a skilled and trained workforce for the development of agriculture education & research . The State Agriculture Minister also explained various achievements of agriculture sector in Bihar during the fiscal year 2016-17.

In December 2017, the central government also announced that the agriculture degrees are equivalent to engineering degrees. Agriculture courses at graduate level and other allied courses have been declared as professional courses by the central government.

Indian Council for Agriculture Research (ICAR) has been working hard to improve quality of higher education in agriculture domain. For this purpose, ICAR has come up with new courses, which will give equal emphasis to eco-friendly methods of farming.

Due to the deteriorating soil fertility in various parts of the country, it is necessary to replace artificial farming with organic farming . Through organic farming, the fertility of the soil can be improved, and the scope for the usage of fertilisers and pesticides will be minimal.
