BJP Demands to Open West Campus of Delhi University
The University has North and South campuses, and the opening of West campus will enable more students to seek admission.
Parvesh Varma, a Lok Sabha member of BJP, criticised the Delhi Government for not taking steps to start new colleges in Delhi. He demanded the government to open the West campus of Delhi University. The issue has been raised in zero hour.

Mr. Parvesh mentioned that this year around 3,00,000 students applied for admissions in Delhi University, and only 50,000 students managed to secure admission. He pointed out the government has not opened any government college for the past 17 years. He asserted that the grama sabha land comes under the government of Delhi.

He said that the Delhi Government must provide lands which it owns in the villages Dwarka and Ghumanhera for the construction of new colleges which in turn develops West Campus of Delhi University. The University has North and South campuses, and the opening of West campus will enable more students to seek admission. He pointed that the AAP Party had promised to construct new colleges, and no steps have been taken so far.
