Official Notice - Notification of Calicut University Postpones PG First Semester Exams
The decision follows growing concern among teachers and students over the limited number of working days in the semester. In a memorandum sent to Vice-Chancellor P. Raveendran, Assistant Professor Arun Karippal of Sree Keralavarma College, Thrissur, pointed out that the academic year had 18 weekend holidays between the semesters. He said that it would be impossible to satisfy the 90 days required under university rules, and that there was ''little time for them to get through their syllabus, or prepare students thoroughly for exams.
'Postgraduate students need sufficient time to read and participate in academic discussions and associated research activities. A quick exam will impact the quality of learning and dilute the confidence of students, said Prof. Karippal.
The university’s decision to defer the exams has been widely appreciated by both students and educators. It is seen as a positive and student-centric move that prioritises academic fairness, teaching quality, and overall well-being. The Complete schedule of the Exams will be published soon on the official website.
