CLAT First Seat Allotment 2025 Delayed: Official notice out, Consortium approaches SC
CLAT First Seat Allotment 2025 is delayed due to the Delhi High Court's order to review the final answer key. The Consortium has now approached SC and confirmed that the allotment is delayed.
CLAT First Seat Allotment 2025 Delayed: The Delhi High Court has recently issued directives to the Consortium of National Law Universities regarding the re-evaluation of the CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) merit list. This intervention arises from concerns raised by the Court about the accuracy of certain responses included in the final answer key for CLAT 2025. In light of this situation, the Court has mandated a comprehensive review and revision of the merit list to ensure fairness in the evaluation process. Hence, the announcement of the CLAT 2025 Round 1 allotment is postponed as the authorities approach SC against the revised marking scheme.
In the official notice released by the Consortium of NLUs, it writes:
"We wish to inform you that the single bench of Hon’ble Delhi High Court had issued an order directing the Consortium to revisit the Merit List published on December 7, 2024. In response, we filed an appeal in division bench of Delhi HC, however division bench didn’t intervene the single judge bench order. We are approaching the SC for appropriate relief against this order at the earliest available date due to vacation.
We understand that this development may result in some delay in the scheduled counselling process, and we assure you that the Consortium is committed to ensuring transparency and fairness in the process. Consequently, the release of the first admission list for NLUs, originally scheduled for December 26, will be delayed and there on the counselling process. The fresh calendar to be announced after our SC appeal process and expected relief. We kindly request your patience as we work diligently to address this matter."

Justice Singh has expressed that several answers deemed correct in the final answer key may be incorrect and has stressed that overlooking these discrepancies could result in unjust outcomes for candidates. This new scheme is expected to apply to all candidates, ensuring that any errors in the previous answer key are duly corrected and that every student's results accurately reflect their performance on the exam. This review is necessary because several errors were found in Set A of the undergraduate (UG) question paper, raising doubts about the accuracy of the exam results.
As a result of this court decision, the release of the CLAT 2025 final answer key was speeded up and made public on December 7, 2024. The first allotment list of candidates, which is important for the admissions process, was originally meant to be published on December 26. However, the ongoing review may lead to changes in the dates for the CLAT 2025 Counselling and could affect the announcement of results.
The Consortium understands that this situation may create uncertainty for candidates preparing for the next steps in the admissions process. In a public statement, they reassured all applicants of their commitment to transparency and integrity. They also emphasized that any significant updates or changes will be shared directly through their official channels to keep everyone informed about the CLAT 2025 admissions.
