The selection committee of the D Y Patil University has appointed Dr Prakash Behere as the new vice-chancellor of the university. The committee had recommended three names to the Chancellor Dr Vijay Bhatkar, following which Behere was chosen as the new VC of the University. Behere took over the charge on Thursday, June 9.
According to the D Y Patil University officials, Behere was a psychiatric Consultant and Professor and Head and Director Research at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Sawangi (Wardha). He passed MD Psychiatry from Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh. Behere has also done research on farmers' suicide in Vidarbha and Child Sexual abuse.
"He has more than 33 years of professional and teaching experience and was the visiting professor of University of Chester, UK. He has completed 28 research projects and published 148 research papers."
