DU SOL Students Fear Mass Failure

Students of Delhi University’s School of Open Learning (SOL) are nervous about their performance in the semester exams, as the varsity failed to complete the syllabus before the conclusion of the academic session. The admissions at DU SOL for the academic session 2017-18 concluded in June 2017, and the varsity failed to start the classes until December 2017. On the other hand, students received study material only in January 2018.

After receiving the study material, students started to attend the classes. Recently, the authorities of SOL confirmed that there would no further Personal Contact Programmes (PCP) . The syllabus of many UG courses offered by SOL is far from completion, said by s student.
Another SOL student revealed that the varsity conducted PCP hardly for 20 days to complete the syllabus. It is highly difficult to cover the entire one-year syllabus within 20 days. The irregularity of SOL in conducting the classes will affect the performance of students in semester exams , he explained.

Chairperson of SOL, Mr. CS Dubey explained that distance learning institutes do not conduct regular classes. Personal contact or counselling sessions are conducted to clarify the doubts of the students related to the subject. Even though there was a delay in distributing the study material , it was uploaded on the official website so that students can prepare for the exams. Usually, students will have to rely on self-study for distance learning courses, he confirmed.
