DUSU Polls: ABVP Bags Top 3 Posts, NSUI Breaks Jinx to Win Joint Secretary’s Seat
Amit Tanwar has been elected as the President of the Delhi University Student Union.
The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) linked to Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh has continued its winning streak in the Delhi University Students Union polls. ABVP recorded a grand victory by winning three posts including that of the President. However, the National Students Union of India (NSUI) which is linked to Congress Party has won the Joint Secretary's post.
Amit Tanwarhas been elected as the President of the Delhi University Student Union. He secured16,357votes against his opponentNikhil Yadavof NSUI who secured4,680votes.
Priyanka Chhawri,the lone girl in the elected panel, won the post of Vice President by securing15,592votes against her rival at2,455votes.Ankit Singhwon the position of Secretary by securing15,518votes.
Mohit Garidof NSUI has won the post of Joint Secretary by securing16,526votes against his opponent by2,466votes. ABVP had won all the posts in 2014 and 2015 polls.
The DUSU elections were held peacefully onSeptember 10, 2016. The election took place in two phases for electing 17 representatives of ABVP, NSUI and AISA.

Seven candidates competed for the post of President whereas four nominations were validated for the position of Vice President. Around 36% of polling was recorded where 1,23,246 students casted their votes. The voting was conducted at 117 polling booths across 51 colleges.
