Finance Day

On 19th October 2016, the Akedemos society organized successfully its first event of the year for all the students and the faculty members with its Finance Day. The event comprised of a Stock-market simulation followed up by a presentation about how stock markets function.

The first event i.e. the Bulls and Bears had 6 teams comprising of 4-5 members each investing in a stock market setup. The aim of the activity was to help the participants learn how to and when to invest in a stock market. 20 companies were listed in the stock market setup along with their prices mentioned and the teams had to decide which stocks to invest in on the basis of the news, facts and rumors provided to them.

The teams investing were also provided with the help of a financial advisor in order to aid their decision-making and make better investment decisions. Each team participated with immense enthusiasm and got to learn a lot of new things. The team with the highest net worth at the end of all the rounds was the winner. The purpose of the event was successfully implemented.

It was followed up by a presentation on “How Stock Markets Function” by one of the members of the Akedemos society. A lot of students along with a few faculty members were there for the presentation and got to learn about the basic functioning of a stock market. The students also learned about Sensex and Nifty.

The event was carried across a time-span of 2 hours and with the help of the society members and all the participants was made a huge success. At the end of the day, it was the hard work of the society members which led to the implementation of a successful event.
