<p>To mark its centennial in 2016, Boeing and IIT Bombay are jointly going to host a global summit on aerospace innovation in New Delhi on October 16, the US plane maker said to the Economics Times.
The panelist of the summit include leaders from government, industry, academia and research institutions. Boeing participants, including Chairman Jim McNerney and Chris Chadwick, president and CEO of Boeing Defense, Space & Security, will discuss Boeing's partnership with India in the areas of manufacturing, sourcing, engineering, and research and development.
Boeing will also display a full-scale mock-up of an unmanned multi-mission, long-endurance aircraft that carries custom payloads for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. The system includes electromagnetic shielding to support customized communications relay and radio frequency sensor payloads to meet the mission needs.
In collaboration with the Union department of science and technology, Boeing and HAL, the founding members of the National Centre for Aerospace and Innovation and Research (NCAIR) opened this project earlier this year at IIT-Bombay
Global and Indian aerospace companies are increasingly seeking out technical expertise at India's premier engineering schools, making their students and faculty part of critical product programmes.
Apart from Boeing, Airbus and state-run HAL, others engaging with the institutes include Mahindra Aerospace, Godrej Aerospace, Bharat ForgeBSE -2.16 % and Larsen and ToubroBSE -0.21 %.
