HP Board Exams 2026: Jumbling of questions to be implemented
HPBOSE introduces major exam reforms from 2026 for Classes 10 and 12 board exams, including jumbled question papers, 20% MCQs on OMR sheets, and digital progress reports to ensure fairness and transparency. A trial run will be conducted before full implementation.
HP Board Exams 2026:
The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) has made a significant change for the class 10 and 12 board exams from the year 2026. All the students, under the new pattern, will have the same set of questions, but the sequence of questions shall be jumbled. This “jumbling of questions” is intended to ensure a similar level of difficulty. This will also help avoid certain past instances when the board received criticism on varied difficulty levels across different sets of question papers.
HPBOSE also intends to introduce
20% of multiple-choice questions (MCQs)
, which students are required to answer on OMR sheets, bringing more objectivity in evaluation. The board is also to go digital with progress reports, in the bid to further enhance the monitoring of student performance.
These reforms are in tune with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and will help in making the examination system more fair, transparent, and effective. The Ministry will conduct "a trial run" of the new system in 2025 to enable students and schools to acclimate to the system before it is implemented fully.
