HRD Ministry to Introduce Digital Database to Curb Fake Degrees and Mark Sheets

In order to resolve the issue of fake degrees and educational mark sheets , the HRD Ministry has decided to take the help of digital technology, according to which, the academic records will now be available virtually.

Soon a workshop will be conducted by the University Grants Commission in order to help the authorities of centrally funded universities create, upload and maintain digital certificates on the National Academic Depository (NAD).

Apart from this, the workshop will also spread awareness regarding the importance of NAD and is likely to be conducted later this month. The workshop will be attended by vice-chancellors, directors, representatives of the Central Board of Secondary Education, the controller of examinations and other important officials.

This method of uploading academic records virtually, will not only help the education system to be free of fake certificates, but also act as a virtual database to help recruiters get credentials of applicants from their universities. Also, the students will no longer have to physically approach the university or college in order to get hold of their marksheets and other academic records as everything will be made available online.

According to a senior HRD official, this new method will put a halt on the malpractices currently prevailing in the education system and also stop students from using wrong means and fake education degrees to grab a job or admission in any renowned college.

Students will now be able to access their academic records anytime and help employers to go through the same for verification.
