Hyundai Sets Up Professional Development Centre at Namakkal College

As a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL), recently inaugurated the 'Hyundai Professional Development Centre' at the Namakkal-based Excel Polytechnic College.

Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) is the second largest car manufacturer and the largest exporter of cars in the country. In a statement, the company said that under its CSR activities, the company aims at fulfilling its long-term commitments towards social objectives, and support for enhancement of community education with latest technologies. For that, the company has landed into a tie-up with polytechnic institutes with specially designed training material, gear box, curriculum, car, engine & other learning aids.

Speaking on the tie-up, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Hyundai Motor India Ltd, Mr. Y K Koo said that they are very happy about this association with Excel Polytechnic College. The company advocates creating a constant skilled resource pool for the automobiles service industry. This new Centre will give an exposure to students with modern automobile technologies. It will also increase the opportunities of employability as well as career prospects.

The press release further stated that the new practical training and syllabus will add yet another dimension to the present syllabus supported by the company. The programme will benefit students of the Polytechnic college in creating skillful professionals who can later work for the Indian automotive service industry.

Hyundai Motor India, under its CSR Skill Development Program, made its first ITI tie-up in 2012. The company wants to support the community by improving education standards with the help of latest technologies. Till now, the company has tied- up with 38 ITIs in each state of India. Around 95% students trained under its Skill Development Program were absorbed by Hyundai dealerships in 2016 as a regular employee. So far, 1,000 students from different ITIs have been benefited by the training programme.
