135 IIT Kanpur Students to be Terminated for Not Performing Well in Academics
135 IIT Kanpur students are to be terminated from the institution for not performing well in the academics. The decision has been taken by the concerned administrative body of the institution. The final call for the same will be taken in the Senate meeting in December 2018.
Students of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur are to be expelled from the institution for their poor academic performance. The administration of IIT Kanpur decided to terminate 135 students on this ground. The decision was taken after a legislative meeting held in the campus. This termination has however been marked as temporary by the administration of IIT Kanpur. The final decision will be taken in the next senate assemblage which will be held on 31st December 2018.
Manindra Agarwal, Deputy Director of IIT Kanpur, said that the termination of 135 students will be temporary, based on their past academic records and performances. The past records will be evaluated by the concerned authorities and the students will get a chance to appeal for restoration by the administration. Those who fail this round of reinstatement will get permanent termination from the institution on the grounds of their poor academic performances.

The IIT Kanpur administration has given a time period of a week to these 135 expelling students to make an appeal and plead against their termination decision. This pleading will be attended in the next administrative meeting of the institution on 31st December 2018 and the final decision will then be taken.

This problem of non-performing students has been recorded for a long time and the administration was waiting for the right time to take the right step. Adding to this scenario, Professor Agarwal of IIT Kanpur said that, a number of students might not perform well in their academics due to their bad health or other unavoidable circumstances or situations. These students, however, might back a good academic track record, therefore, they should be given a second chance, added Mr. Agarwal.
