India has Emerged as an Educational Hub: Sushma Swaraj
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said that quest for knowledge has been fundamental to Indian culture and the country has emerged as an educational hub.
Sushma Swaraj, External Affairs Minister addressed the audience at the alumni award function organized by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. According to her, India has emerged as an educational hub and knowledge has become an integral part of the Indian culture. From ancient days itself, India has had well developed educational institutions. Institutes like Nalanda, Panchsheela and Vikramashila are prime examples of a well-developed education system in India.
At present, there are over 6,000 foreign students in India who are a part of various scholarships of ICCR and the number of students is increasing day by day. ICCR - Indian Council for Cultural Relations scholarships in India are a humble contribution to the same.

She further said that India has emerged as an educational hub around the globe and is home to some of the prestigious institutions such as IITs, IIMs and NITs that offer various niche programmes in the field of management, biotechnology, textile management and others.

Swaraj conferred the alumni award to Kaba Urgessa Dinssa, State Minister of Ministry of Agriculture and Live Stock Resources in Ethiopia, Ajmal Hameed Abdulrahimzai, Deputy Minister for Administration and Finance in the Ministry of Industry and Commerce in Afghanistan among others. All the awardees thanked India for their contribution to foreign education.
